Div. 3- South District Preview (Reg. 2, 5, & 14)

When people think about Texas Junior College Baseball you generally think of the San Jac’s, the Howard’s, the Grayson’s, and the McLennan’s. But there is a part of the state that is just as good that gets very little love due to the fact that they have the “Division Three” Title or Stigma.

The South District in Texas has been arguably the most successful division 3 district for the past decade. This might have part to do with the fact that they play earlier than most other division 3 schools. But it also has to do with the fact that since 2011 this district has had 6 national title games (Eastfield-2011) and Tyler (2014-2018), with 5 National Titles (2011, 2014-2017) with Brookhaven in 2019 finishing 3rd at the tournament.

As you would expect this is also a very team district with talent-

Tyler’s- Adam Davis, Cooper Rawls, and Heath Hood

Coastal Bend’s-Jacob Wilson, and Eric Martinez

Brookhaven’s-Brett Wagner, JJ Davis, and Andrew Acierni

Cedar Valley’s-Mario Pena, and Corbin Thompson

Div. 2- Plains District Preview (Reg. 2, 6, 16)

The last Division 2 National Champion came out of this district in the way of NOC-Enid. They won it in their Second Consecutive trip to well Enid…. Yes they host the division in the World Series. In 2019, they topped Mesa (AZ) in a close 5-4 winner take all game due to the fact that both teams had one loss going into the Championship Game. The year before ,in 2018, they lost both games to eventual National Champion LSU-Eunice.

This Distract this past decade has been led by the Oklahoma Schools. With as mentioned above NOC-Enid having those 2 trips as well as one in 2014, and a National Title, Murray State (2017,2013 (National Champs), and Western Oklahoma State (2016, 2015 (National Runner Up), 2012(National Runner Up), 2011 (National Champs), and 2010.) The last time a school from any other region in this district made it to the World Series  was in 2008 before they combined the regions to create this district.

As usual there is a ton of talent on the field:

North Central Missouri- Braedyn Brewer

Carl Albert- Mac Moody, and Devon Chapa

Murray State’s-Joey Trevinoi and Cameron Pool

NOC-Tonkawa- Blake Hubbard, Jacob Ellis, and Carter Hines

Div. 2- Plains District Preview (Reg. 2, 6, 16)

NOC-Enid took home the national title last year. Playing at home during the Regional Tournament and during the National Tournament is a tad bit of a bonus when you are the school that hosts. They took out the #1 overall seed in Pearl River in the 3rd round before falling in the first game of the national Semi-finals to Pasco-Hernando. They then played Mesa in a Winner take all National Title game. They took home the crown on their home turf with a score of 5-4.

Previous Winners:’19 NOC-Enid (National Champs), ‘18 NOC-Enid, ‘17 Murray State, ‘16 Western Oklahoma State

The state of Oklahoma takes home both the pre-season player and pitcher of the year awards. NOC-Enid’s Evan Kowalski takes the Pre-Season Pitcher honors. While NOC-Tonkawa’s Ben MacNaughton takes home the Pre-Season Player of the Year honors.
