Div 1- Appalachian District Preview (Reg. 7 & 17)

Welcome back to the world that is the wonderful world of Junior College Baseball. With this being the first Major piece of content that we are putting out for the 2021 season. Each District/Region will have their own preview. This will include a Quick “Recap” or over all look at the region as a whole before a deeper dive into the All-District-Region Teams, How we (Noah and Chirs) think this year is going to pan out. And then to wrap it up a look into a team that we think is someone that we either really like or one that we think is going to surprise some people if they are paying attention to them. If you need to get a membership click this link and it will take you right over to where you can sign up! If not Welcome back let's have a fun 2021 season!

This District the past few years has been dominated by Walters State. They have claimed the crown the last two years (not including 2020 because ya know…. Covid and stuff). Making it to the National Title in 2018 to Chipola and finishing 4th in 2019 with both losses coming from the two teams that made it to the national Championship (Iowa Western and Central Arizona).

On the other side of this District (Georgia) has been a fun battle to follow. With Gordon State rising up the ranks in 2019 but eventually falling short in the District Title Game against none other than Walters State in two extremely close games (5-4 and 5-2).

There is a plethora of talent across this entire region (and country) with some of the players being:

Walters States-Caleb McNeely and Jerry Hammons

Gordon States-Cole Phillips

Georgia Highlands-Johnny Dow and Trace Twardoski

Abraham Baldwin’s-Sam Bennett and Henry Daniels

Andrew’s- Jacob Pierce and Robert Malone

Chattanooga State’s- Kobe Robinson

And

Dyersburg State’s- Chris Mondesi and Griffin Miller

University Junior College Recruiting Class Ranking

As many know November 13th was the start of the early signing day period this fall. And boy was it a day. For junior college athletes it generally is not as much of a surprise where they are going to sign when they have their options. They do not usually have the hats sitting in front of them like many people think when it comes to a person signing day.

From what we here at the JBB have collected it was over 200 different individuals commit/sign so far during this period. So we decided to break out or ranking caps for the first time to kick off the official 2020/2021 Calendar. Yes, we did have a Recruiting Class Ranking a few weeks back but this is for the guys that will not make it to campus till the fall of 2021.

As usual there are many of your normal universities that have already started to pick the Junior College ranks to fill their rosters for the next coming years. Below we rank the top 25 Classes as well as some Honorable Mentions.

2020 MLB Draft Rankings

So for those who thought that the Final 201 was a draft ranking... Well again read the opening paragraph.

This is the JBB Draft Rankings.

Due to the draft being shorter than it was suppose to be we did not see the need for the rankings to be as big as it could be. This is who we feel will have a chance to have their named called when the draft happens. This is looked at with a different lens than the for-mentioned 201 list.
