Div. 1- South Central District Preview (Reg. 2, 16, 23)

This region has not had a repeat winner since Delgado won 3 straight from 2014-2016. Then on top of that, the farthest that any team has gone once getting to Grand Junction has been Crowder back in 2010 when they made it to the 5th day of the tournament where they lost to the eventual champs Iowa Western. The last National Champion to come out of this District was back in 1975 when Meramec (Now St. Louis CC) topped Miami Dade 6-4. So to say that this district is itching for a Title Run is quite an understatement.

Last year the winner was Connors where they took the last two games from Delgado in Slug fests. Winning the first game 15-0 which forced a winner-take-all District title game where Connors won 16-14. Once in Grand Junction, Connors was out in a short fashion where they lost the first two games.

Previous Winners: ‘19 Connors State, ‘18 Jefferson, ‘17 Crowder, ‘16 Delgado

Even though the postseason success might not be what this District might like the Players have a rich history of success. In 2018 Jefferson Joey Polack claimed the National Player of the Years Honor. This year's group is led by Pre-Season Player of the Year David Mendham (South Carolina) from Connor State. While the Pre-Season Pitcher of the Year goes to Eastern Oklahoma's Christian McGowan (Kansas State).

Week 3 Preview

Another week and even more games! Over the next 4 days (Thursday-Sunday) there will be just over 350 games taking place all across the country. We take a quick look into 3 series this week that we think are going to play a big role in rankings, as well as see how some teams will match up against some of the countries best.

#23 Crowder vs #25 North Iowa area

Here are two teams that usually don't get started till a few weeks later in the season just due to the fact that they play in cold weather most of the time. And what would you know this series is already being questioned because of Weather. This is the first time out for both teams and it should be a good series all in all.

NIACC is coming into a new era with a new head coach in Drew Sannes after the former Head Coach Travis Hergert accepted the MILB assistant Pitching Coordinator Job with the Phillies. That though doesn't mean there is not a lot to look forward to for NIACC. Coming into the year they have a lot of upside. Being one of the Top teams in Iowa coming into the season. They are lead on the field by Utility SO Dylan Danielson (Oral Robertson), and SO Infielder Anthony Catalano (ULL) both look to lead the charge for them at bat and in the field.

For Crowder, they come to the weekend having played 2 games already. As of writing this, they are 1-0 with an 11-7 win over Labette on the 1st of February. So far their offense in that one game was led by Rod Criss who went 3-5 with 3 Doubles, 3 RBI’s, and 2 runs, and Josh Patrick who also went 2-3 with a run and 1 walks.

Week 6 Players and Teams of the Week

Teams of The Week

Here is a look at the teams that made the biggest moves or had huge weeks as a team for each division

Div 1: Crowder (7-0)

Yes, Crowder is in this week’s Top 10. But when you play 7 games in a week and outscore your opponents 98-12 it’s worth diving into just how crazy each game was for them.

They started the week on Thursday, with a 31-0 win over Labette.  They played 7 innings scoring in every one of those 7. The biggest inning came in the 5th when they scored 12. On the mound Chandler Ashby threw a complete game shutout striking out 4 and only allowing 4 hits. At the plate is where things obviously get a bit crazy. Frankie Circello and Victor Plaz led the way for them (even though there really is not anyone that did not actually do good that game). Circello was 3-3 on the day with 3 homers, 6 RBI’s, and scored 4 runs himself. Plaz was 3-4 on the day with 2 homers, 9 RBI’s, and 2 Runs.

The next day, Friday, they had a double header against Lake Land. They won the first game 13-0, behind Jared Viertel who threw a complete game shutout, striking out 7 with 3 walks in 5 innings, and Cameron Tissue (South Alabama) who was 3-3 in the game with a double, homer, 6 RBI’s and scored twice. The second game of the day was the closest game they had all week. It was a 2-1 win which they walked off in the bottom of the 7th.

They finished the week with a weekend series against Indian Hills in which they took the games 16-6, 13-2, 11-1, and 12-2. In the second game (13-3), Crowder hit 6 homers as a team. 2 by Logan Chambers, 2 by Landrey Wilkerson, 1 by Frankie Circello, and 1 by Rod Criss.
