We are almost a month into the Season and things are starting to heat up. A 15-inning game was won down in Houston. Multiple teams with double-digit win streaks. More tournaments taking off each week with more to come.
Division 1
So looking across the country this past week let’s recap what we hit on last week. The Tournament of Champions happened. 2 Teams came out of it undefeated in Navarro and San Jac. There was a Walk off by San Jac in the Bottom of the 15th vs Wabash Valley.

One series that got a lot of attention this past weekend was the #8 Crowder vs #15 Johnson County Series. All four games were competitive from the jump. Crowder took the first day sweeping the games 6-4 and 4-1. While Johnson County took the next two 3-0 and 9-8. Both of these teams have been national powers for the last handful of years and to start your season off with big-time games like this is going to do alot for both teams later on in the season.
Division 2
#6 LSU-Eunice keeps their winning ways going this past weekend. They expanded their win streak to 11 straight with a 4-game sweep of Monroe who started off the Toughest schedule in the country this past week. Eunice took the 4 games 11-4, 13-1, 18-1, 14-4. As a team, they hit .372 with 18 extra-base hits. 6 stolen bases, with 4 home runs.
So one tournament that we did miss this past weekend was one that took place over in Palatka, Florida at the John Tindall Classic. This played host to Northwest Florida, Miami Dade, Florence-Darlington Tech, East Georiga State, and St. Johns River. When looking at this field it would be hard to pick a team that would “win the weekend”. But, what many would not have picked, however, was the team that took home the top spot. St. Johns River fresh into the Division 2 ranks after dropping down this season went 3-0 on the weekend. They started with an 8-5 win over #20 Northwest Florida, Then beat #12 Miami Dade 7-2, and finished the weekend beating East Georiga State 14-4.
#3 Kirkwood started the season this past weekend traveling to Kansas to take on Seward County. They swept the weekend scoring a total of 59 runs. They hit .420 as a team with 25 extra-base hits, with 10 of them being by the long ball.
It has been said many times that the Division 2 teams in Arizona should not be underlooked. Multiple years the team coming out of Arizona makes it to Enid with a .500 record or lower but still shows that they are one of the top teams in the country making noise on the national stage. Chandler-Gilbert has started the season 8-1 coming into this week and going 2-0 with wins over another top division 2 team from Arizona in #19 Phoenix. Winning both games 5-4 and 11-4.
Division 3
Eastfield has started the season and shown why they are one of the top teams in the country. Now they did play a JV team and a post-grad this past week. But going 7-0 on a week is impressive regardless. And how they did it is even more impressive. They started the week beating LeTourneau 6-0 and 8-1. Later in the week, they swept DFW Post grad 3-2, 10-0, and 9-0. They wrapped up the weekend facing off against #21 North Arkansas which they handled just like the rest of the week. They won game 1 3-2 then came out swinging in game two winning it 12-2. Through the week they hit .317 with 22 extra-base hits, and they stole 33 bases across the 7 games. On the mound, they had a team era of .75 striking out 84 strikeouts with a 4.6 K/BB.
