And here we are. The first week of the Junior College baseball season is over. Yes, how we do it is just 3 days but, with that being said week one is over. It started out many would think it would. There were big-time matchups across the country, From all three divisions, there were games.
Hopefully, this form of the post goes over well. We are changing things up just a bit this year with the amount of time that we have to do the stuff we do. This is going to be as you see by the title the “Weekly Report”, From the past week, Top 25 Results, Div 1,2, and 3 recaps, as well as the teams of the week, players of the week, Top plays, as well as going over some of the top matchups for the next week.
This though will be different from where the New Rankings will be each week. That will still be its own stand-alone post each week starting after February.
The first couple of weeks of this will be in front of the paywall then after that parts will go back behind the paywall. so make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss anything!
Division 1
With big-time games kicking off the season all over one of the bigger ones was out west. Southern Nevada hosted 3 different schools in #1 Central Arizona, Utah State Eastern, and Arizona Western. Well To kick off the season Southern Nevada swept #1 Central Arizona with both a 4-3 win and an 8-1 win. Next, they swept Pre-season ranked Arizona Western who was sitting just outside the top 25 in two one-sided games with a 16-6 win and an 8-1 win.
Over in Texas, there was what some called a “Post Season” atmosphere between two teams in #3 San Jac and #22 New Mexico. The two played a 3 game series taking place in San Antonio. NMJC won the first game 8-4, with San Jac Winning the next 2 by the scores of 10-7 and 8-7.
Out east in Florida, Looks like Central Florida picked up right where they left off. Started the season ranked #5 and kicked off the season with three games against #21 Florida SouthWestern, Pre-season ranked Polk, and Palm Beach. They won all three games 5-3, 5-2, and 17-2
Division 2
The Division 2 ranks got off as well with quite a few games this past weekend as well. Newly Div 2 team St. Johns River went 4-0 on the week, and LSU-Eunice went 3-0 while scoring a boatload of runs.
As more teams start playing there will be more to write both here and in the Div 3 schools.
Division 3
There were a few teams that started off at the Div. 3 levels but not too many. Most of them were down south in Texas/Arkansas. #21 North Arkansas looks to be continuing where they left off last year starting 3-0 while #8 Richland went 2-1 on the week winning two against TCS Post Grad.

Both of these Will be streamed on PG TV. If we had to throw a pick out for these here is where we sit. In Arizona, It is going to be tough but After the opening week that Southern Nevada had i would not want to play them right now. And out in Florida, us being the big-time fans of Mississippi Junior college baseball it would be awesome to see Meridian come out on top of that one.
One last big-time event happening this upcoming weekend is taking place in Millington, Tennessee. This is the 1st of 3 or 4 straight weekends of events taking place there in Tennessee. With not as many “Heavy Hitters” as the other two big events happening this weekend this is still going to be just as good. Below are the teams that are taking part in the Saluqi Invitational.
Saluqi Invitational |
#7 John A. Logan |
Holmes |
Chattanooga State |
Mississippi Delta |
Jackson State |
Northeast Mississippi |
Southwest Tennessee |
Coahoma |

Again if we were going to be the “pundits” that we are and make a pick about who is going to win this we might as well. John A. Logan is the easy pick but i would not sleep on Chattanooga State.
