Teams of The Week

Here is a look at the teams that made the biggest moves or had huge weeks as a team for each division

Delgado – 6-0

Delgado is a team in Louisiana that is always fighting to break through. They have the unfortunate alignment with Region 2 and Region 16 when it comes to the postseason. This past week they had quite an impressive week. They went 6-0 scoring 51 runs and outscoring their opponents on an average of 3.4 to 1. As a team in that span, they hit .351 a team with 19 extra-base hits.

They started the week with a 3 game series with Bryant & Stratton winning 10-2, 12-2, 10-7. They then had 2 games against Pensacola State in which they won 10-2 and 3-0. They rounded it out with another game against Bryant & Stratton in which they won 6-2.

They opened up with Cecil in which they won the games 9-3 and 2-1. In the mid-week, they played Anne Arundel and won those games 16-1, and 13-7. They rounded out the weekend playing Middlesex County on Sunday and won those games 8-2 and 10-1.

Hot Teams

This is a quick look at a few teams’ past 10 games. These teams are on a hot streak. And were going to tell you why

Georgia Highlands – 10-0 (14-Game Win Streak)

Georgia Highlands has been off to one of the hottest stars as of late. Currently riding a 14-Game Win Streak (16 if you are counting Monday’s games) they have been not just winning games but decisively winning games. The 10-game stretch we are looking at though to make things easier going from the games that ended on the 19th back to the 2nd game of a doubleheader with Chattanooga state on February 5th.

Throughout those 10 games, They have scored 92 runs and only allowed only 19. They have one game on with an average score of 9-2. Which is a very impressive ratio. To go with that they have shut out 3 different teams. As a team during this span, they have hit .336, with a 1.164 OPS, they have 39 Extra base hits and have stolen 42 bases while only being caught twice.

As said above they are now up to 16 games straight to start the season (as of Tuesday afternoon). They have a huge test in Wabash Valley this weekend which is going to be watched by many in the junior college world with a lot of interest.

Gaston College – 10-0 (11-Game Win Streak)

Gaston is in their first year back in a long time. And they have not waited at all to get off to a great start. Going into the weekend they were 8-0 and were going into a series with the #7 Ranked team in Patrick Henry. This had a lot of interest due to seeing where Gaston would hold up. And they seemed to have answered that winning the series and sweeping it.

Over the 10 game span, that just misses the first game of the season, they have scored 100 runs while only allowing 36. This puts them at a solid game score of 10-4 over that span. As a team, they are hitting .307 with a .991 OPS. They have 36 extra-base hits along with being walked 60 times over that span.

Gaston has been a fun follow so far this season and they are looking to keep up the tradition as of late with New schools competing early and making a lot of noise.
