This District/Region has been dominated by San Jac over the last 2 Decades. With 14 Trips to Grand Junction since 2000, with 6 of those ending as National Runner Ups. This year though presents a very interesting twist to things.
Last year, Both Tyler and Coastal Bend played a Division 1 regular season then a Division 3 Postseason. With Tyler winning the National Title and then Coastal Bend winning the District Title. Now, They are Division 1 Schools. So 3 schools in this region competed in World Series Play. With 1 winning the entire thing.
This year’s group of Region 14 Teams is going to be good. With Tyler bringing the power that they are in only improves it.
The two sides of the Region tell 2 different stories.
The South consists of Alvin, Blinn, Coastal Bend, Galveston, San Jac, Wharton.
The South looks to be led by San Jac as most years with a solid group of teams waiting behind them. Wharton has bats that have been loud all fall, Blinn has a good mix of arms and bats and Alvin looks to be loaded as well.
The East consists of Angelina, Bossier Parish, Navarro, Northeast Texas, Panola, Paris, Tyler.
The east is where this region gets very interesting. There is no clear top dog. Tyler looks to come into the year to show they belong at the Division 1 level. Paris looks to be ready to compete and make noise at a national level. Navarro seems to be ready to go under their New Head Coach.
