If you follow division 2 junior college baseball then you know about this district. Out on the east coast taking names. They are in a weird spot solely because the Florida teams go and play cream of the crop down in Florida. While the teams up north end up playing the likes of Florence Darlington Tech, and  Spartanburg Methodist who are national powers year in and year out.

The district’s last National Championship game was back in 2008 when Lenior took home the runner up trophy. There has also not been back to back winners. Pasco-Hernando took the world by storm in 2019 finishing 3rd in Enid losing their games to the #1 team going into the tournament in Pearl Rivers, and eventual Champions NOC-Enid, they happened to make a trip in 2014. Brunswick took trips to Enid in 2018, 2016, and 2013. Pitt took a trip in 2017; Catawba Valley went in 2015, and 2012. And Southeastern (NC) made a trip in 2011 to wrap up the past decade.

The talent as well as the talent across the rest of the country is at an all time high. It is lead by:

Catawba Valley’s– Colt Byars, Mason Herbert, and Javier Martinez

Patrick Henry’s– Max Harper, and Drew Harfow

Bryant & Stratton’s– Jose Carzola, Carson Arguin, and Caleb Pittman

Brunswick’s– Alex Reed, Cam Murphy, and Ethan Haislip

Paul D. Camp– Carlos Bland, Jared Sowalter, and Quincy Sippio

Noah’s Team to Watch: Catawba Valley

If it was not for last year’s ending, you know COVID and what not. Catawba was rolling their way through everyone. Despite losing the Pitcher of the Year last year in Blake Dockery. They are still loaded on the mound like they always are. They also kept plenty of power and depth on the offensive side to make them a force to be reckoned with.

Chris’s Team to Watch: Catawba Valley

I will keep this one simple…They were LOADED last year and they have almost everyone back!  This team is poised for a deep run and I would not be surprised if they beat any and every team on their schedule.  Not a term you use often in juco but they are a very seasoned and experienced group.  They will be extremely difficult to beat this year.
