Teams of The Week
Here is a look at the teams that made the biggest moves or had huge weeks as a team for each division
Div 1: Central Arizona (4-0)
With their backs up against the wall Central Arizona did what they needed to do. Coming into the last week of the regular season the top 4 spots in Arizona were separated by about a game and a half with Central sitting on the cusp of being done for the year. They needed to come in and sweep both series against Eastern Arizona and Cochise in order to have a chance. They obviously did just that taking the two from Eastern 2-0 and 12-2, and the two from Cochise 12-6 and 7-1. Leading their offense for them was the combination of Ernny Ordonez (Kansas), and Zach Hogueisson (Kansas State). Ordonez hit .312 with 2 Doubles, a Homer, 6 RBIs, and 4 Runs. Hogueisson hit .500 with 3 Doubles, a Triple, Homer, 5 RBI, 5 R. On the Mound for them in Game 1 against Eastern Avery Jones (San Diego State) threw a Complete Game Shutout. Striking out 7 with no walks and 6 hits.
Div 2: Western Oklahoma State (4-1)
For those of you who do not read these often you might be thinking “Why is a team that went 4-1 a team of the week? They didn’t go undefeated?” Well here is why. This past week Western Oklahoma won their midweek game against Richland 14-3. Then had a 4-game series against NOC-Tonkawa which just so happened to be a Top 5 Matchup in which they took the series 3-1 winning the 2 games in Tonkawa 10-5, and 7-6 then splitting them at home 2-0, and 6-3. They were led by the trio of Dan Pruitt (DBU), Jhonny Felix, and Sammy De La Cruz. Pruitt continued to do what he has done all season which hit. He hit his 20th homer this season which leads the Division 2 level. Along with that homer this week he hit.368 with a Double, Triple, 6 RBIs, 6 Runs and 4 Stolen Bases. Felix hit .294 on the week with 2 homers, 5 RBIs, 5 Runs and a Stolen Base. De La Cruz rounds out the trio hitting .438 with a Double, 2 Homers, 6 RBI, 4 Runs and 2 Stolen Bases.
Div 3: Rowan Gloucester (4-0)
Rowan had a huge week having all 4 wins being against nationally ranked teams. With a 7-5 win over Cumberland County, 7-1 win over Camden County then a doubleheader sweep over division 1 Harford 9-1 and 9-8. Leading the way from them throughout the week was Lorenzo Morello and Jake Catalano. Morello hit .474 with a Double, Triple, Homer, 6 RBIs and 5 Runs. While, Catalano hit .357 with 2 RBIs, 7 Runs, and 4 Stolen Bases.
